Lessons on Personal Hygiene, Necessary for Students

Personal hygiene should not only be part of everyone’s lifestyle, but it is also important to keep diseases at bay. Especially after the pandemic, everyone needs to implement good hygiene habits in their life. Children must be taught to practice good hygiene habits early in life.

Personal hygiene is about daily cleanliness activities that children must follow to stay clean. The activities are as basic as brushing, washing hands, bathing, and changing clothes. Children must be taught these basic habits as lessons on personal hygiene, to begin with. Gradually, the concept of living a hygienic and healthy life should be introduced to them.

Simple and easy ways to introduce lessons on personal hygiene by Om Public School:

Children must be made to follow good hygiene habits throughout the day, irrespective of their place. For this, parents and teachers must teach them about good hygiene habits in a fun and easy way so that they remember it even when elders are not around.
The following significant yet easier ways of teaching kids about healthy habits on cleanliness will be effective in the long run.

Rhymes and poems

Rhymes are the best way to teach kids about washing hands or brushing their teeth. The catchy and melodious lines when recited repeatedly stay in the young minds forever. They not only understand the importance of good hygiene but also remember to practice them as and when required.

Live models

If you wish to teach the negative impact of not practicing good hygiene, you can create live models depicting how germs and bacteria affect the food that we eat if we do not keep ourselves clean. Or any D-I-Y activity can also come in handy in making kids learn about healthy habits. The germs can make them sick and therefore they must be kept at bay by taking bath, wearing clean clothes and brushing their teeth, etc. These things must be conveyed through live models. The point will get registered in their brain and will stay with them forever.

Interesting stories and books

Interesting stories can be weaved around healthy habits of cleanliness and narrated to kids. Books on cleanliness with a good storyline can also be presented to them. The more they read or listen to these stories the more they retain the information about hygiene conveyed to them. Apps etc. can also be used to make children listen to stories with lessons on cleanliness.

Motivation and rewards

Motivate your kids to follow hygienic living by rewarding them with small gifts or just a pat on the back. Saying encouraging words to them once they follow good habits on cleanliness will boost their confidence and motivate them to keep practicing the same. The more you acknowledge their good habits the more they will be inclined towards following them.

Set a good example

Children tend to imitate the adults around them. It is wise to set a good example for them to follow. Maintain cleanliness and personal hygiene yourself because your kid will follow you eventually. Better lead by example. Om Public School believes in setting the right standards.

Pick the method that resonates with you and is easy for you to follow but make sure your kid learns good personal hygiene habits as early on in life as possible. It is good not just for them but also for the people around them.
